Every now and then a project comes along that sounds quite unlike anything you have heard before. Introducing AMJ, the production trio of drummer Andy Clarke, bassist Mark Spence and producer John Hollis. They create music with a Collective of invited musicians, from harpist Catrin Finch to trumpeter Michel Padron. Although together they originally come from a reggae background, this AMJ music takes on a personality that evades instant categorization. These boys lay down an almighty groove and then develop melodic and harmonic themes on a musical journey that takes them to places they never imagined when they first set forth. Their first work, the Golden Glow EP, gives a feel for the path they are on – groovin’, subtle, slammin’, beautiful. Their first album is due in 2011.
